Chaka Salt Lake Scenic Area
The Chaka Salt Lake Scenic Area is located in Chaka Town, Wulan County, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It covers an area of 105 square kilometers and has a tourist area of 30 square kilometers. It is the eastern gateway of the Qaidam Basin. This place has a long history and a rich cultural heritage. It is one of the birthplaces of Chinese salt culture and has been known as Xigong Xianchi since ancient times.
Chaka Salt Lake is a brine lake with both solid and liquid coexisting, set among snow-capped mountains and grasslands. The salt lake has a vast water area, with silver waves shimmering. The blue sky, white clouds and snow-capped mountains are reflected in the lake, creating a picturesque scene. Immersed in the world of salt, strolling on the lake surface feels like walking on the clouds. The water reflects the sky, the sky touches the ground, and people walking in the lake are like strolling in a painting. It is hailed as "China's Mirror of the Sky" and was rated as one of the "55 Places to Visit in a Lifetime" by National Geographic Travel Magazine.
Here, you can take a small train on a 60-centimeter-long track and explore the lake center with the fragrance of salt. You can also take a cruise to admire the magnificent scene of large salt-digging boats spraying water and swallowing pearls. You can enjoy the splendid picture of sunrise and sunset over the salt lake. Through the clear lake water, you can observe the salt flowers of various shapes growing and explore the mystery of the salt world. You can also experience the 3,000-year-old development history of Daqing salt at the Salt Culture Museum.
